  • UK notes have serial numbers: AAnn nnnnnn (A = alpha, n = numberic). The question asks: In the same household, what is the likelihood that 2 x £20 notes have the same last 4 digits and 2 x £10 notes have the same last 4 digits. For example: both £20 notes end '1369' and both £10 notes end '8472'. I suppose you would need also to know how many of each note is in circulation etc.
