Why are clearly brave criminals often termed cowardly?

They don't seem brave to me. Bravery has a sense of great character and fortitude, a certain beauty of spirit, not just 'no fear' doing something. They lack valor and strength of heart

I wish you would provide an example... but I know many who are given the title "criminal" who are not even that. They are just people with their own morals who dont conform to the laws. If its a victimless crime, it should not be illegal (example, smoking my motta) : ]

It's easy to be 'brave' when you're the one with both surprise and a weapon on your side. But watch how fast they fold when the field is leveled. Which is why I believe concealed carry should be mandatory for every responsible head of household.
