Not necessarily. If your kitty is used to being able to go outside, he may wail and cry all his life. Just because you got him neutered doesn't mean it will alter his instincts. Some kitties do however, and will realize that you will no longer release him to the outside world. If after his stitches are healed he is still wailing, you can try taking him outside accompanied to see what happens. Although, don't be surprised if he wants to wander off. I have one kitty that did what yours is doing and has never wanted to come back in because he is territorial. On occasion he comes back in to eat and rest. The other kitty is just happy as can be that he no longer has to go outside. It's all a matter of what his attitude is towards being confined. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

It takes about six weeks to completely be free of the (testes produced)testosterone in his body. Testosterone related behaviour may take that long to extinguish. If the behaviour has become a habbit it may not disappear at all.

Once his hormones have settled down, the work begins at getting him to accept that he can NOT go outside. This means you have to guard the door everytime someone goes in and out. Set him up a bed in a window, if possible so he can see out....this is not teasing him. Teasing him is if you let him go out a little bit...or on a leash...or in a pen. IN means IN. Good for you....you will prolong your pet's life by being very consistent and persistent on this issue!

It may take awhile for those changes to happen. He's kind of got to go through his leftover feelings and hormones before he will settle down. Then most neutered male cats become really nice pets with less spraying and roaming, staying closer to home. He is thinking more about being a friend to you and not breeding every queen in the neighborhood.
