It is the following: "God made it that way! He just freakin did it! Don't ask why and how. It isn't important. Don't ask questions anyways, just eat the damn fact."

there are different thories on how the world/universe was created. Some people believe in the Evolution Theory (a theory is an idea that has evidence to back it, but not enough evidence to prove it). This is the most commonly taught theory in public schools, but it is a theory and not a fact. Others believe in Intelligent Design. that Something/Someone who is bigger and more powerful than we can really imagine, had a hand in creating the world as we know it. Most people ignorantly think that only Christian/Jewish religions have this belife, but just about every group of people in history have some basic belief that the world was created by something. I personally believe that the Theory of Evolution should be taught to kids in science class, but they should also be intorduced to the idea of creationsim so that they understand that there are other possibilities on how the world was created. By being told that there might be some other explamation out there, one of them just might be the one that discovers a new theory, or can find further evidence to support an existing theory, which might result in us someday finding out for sure where we all come from.

Teaching creationism usually refers to teaching the creation story from the book of Genesis in the Bible in science classes as an alternative to actual science. People suggest this because they think it's "unfair" that some theories are presented as fact and not others. This is bullshit for a number of reasons: the theory of evolution (which is usually viewed as the main opposer of creationism), is not a "theory" in the way that creationism is a "theory." A scientific theory is pretty much the highest version of proof you can ever have for anything (except for things like 2 + 2 = 4). Creationism has no proof at all and is not science in any way. Also, evolution spent a long time be argued over by actual scientists before is was dubbed fact enough to be taught. Creationism seems to not need to go through any system at all except "It's in the Bible so let's teach this shit!" So, in short, teaching creationism is a bunch of bullshit.

unam. gravity is not a theory. Gravity is a law. A theory is something that is not proved, but that has evidence to back it up, but not 100%. You need to start using your brains. You need to learn what the hell you are talking about. Go take a basic jr high science class.

Phil in the Blank, Let's see if I can be more specific for you. My opion is that creationism should be used to explain that there are more theories than just evolution. Creationism it should be explained is that there is someone/something that created the world/universe. Since it is to be explained in Science class, a specific god should not be discussed, but it should be explained that the Christion/Jewish faiths follow the bible, but that other societies have other beliefs...I don't know all of them, but I remember some native american tribe as believing that the world was created by a giant turtle and the world was actually the shell on his back. these should be pointed out that these are religious in nature and it should be stated, very strongly, that this is not to encourage religion in school.

It's sort of like teaching magic only in this case, the students actually believe that the stuff is real
