Format your drive and get another copy of windows. Any windows will do as long as it's not VISTA. and really, this is something you should be bothering microsoft with since they are the ones that came up with this stupid crap in the first place. As for me, i am sticking with XP 64-bit. Since microsoft no longer supports it, the source got leaked into public hands and it is going to become the next, best OS.

I realize this Q is old but I'm going to answer it because the only other answer is awful. In order of preference I would try: 1) Press F8 when your computer is booting and try the "last known good configuration". This will restore the computer to a state likely before the updates, then you can try them again. 2) Press F8 and enter safe mode and use system restore to go back to a point before the updates. Then you can try the updates again. 3) Press F8 and enter safe mode so that you can uninstall the failed updates one at a time until the computer boots correctly. Last ditch: Use the repair install option to reformat. This will reinstall system files without touching your data files. Note that some programs may not work after this and may need to be reinstalled.
