I believe this song means something more then what you get the first time. If one listen to the lyrics carefully, one can see that not everything is forgotten and painful memories are just adding up inside you (shit adds up at the bottem). In this song maynard talks about how the pain inflicted on him also helps him grow stronger and resistant (I have swallowed the poison that you feed me, but i survive on the poison that you feed me...). Also, in the verse (Too much, too far, too late to lie down now. ) it seems almost as though he had ignored what was happening to him before and now has finally decided to take action. Towards the end he sings (Hatred keeps me a live, weakness keeps me alive, lonelyness keeps me alive, guilt keeps me alive at the bottom.) that is where its gotten to the point where he likes the pain.
