  • No, that is definitely Saddam who is in custody (and condemned to death) in Iraq. In the past few years since his capture, we've seen him with the beard, shaved, in his underwear, and in the court with his mustache. All of the credible (& tabloid) newspapers & news networks have photographed him and very little (if any) reference has been made to the possability that Saddam is "still out there." Moreover, in following Saddam's trial, every reference and comment he made during his court appearances was very much reflective of the Saddam we saw in the early 21st Century, stalling on having the UN weapons inspectors coming into his country, and very reflective of the man, who in 1991 was responsible for one the worst environmental atrocities in modern day history (burning Kuwait's oilfields and releasing tons of crude oil into the Persian Gulf). Basically, the Saddam we saw in court was the same Saddam we've seen before - he took no responsibility for his actions, and blamed everything on the US, the West, and Iran... The United States would have absolutely nothing to gain by pretending they captured an imposter. The insurgency (or Saddam himself) would have nothing to gain by putting an imposter in Saddam's shoes (given the fact that Saddam's trial has brought nothing but more chaos to the country). Basically, I don't think Saddam or his forces are coniving or organized enough to pull a hoax like that off. Bin Laden probably would be, but not Saddam, whose solution to everything is (was) one dimensional - bomb, torture, or gas anything that gets in your way.
  • Saddam was caught early in to the Invasion into Iraq. The person in custody is legit, but with all the doubles people have, i can understand your concern. No, it's real
