  • I would let my spouse go, sadly, because the child has more of a life ahead of it. Also, I know my spouse would sacrifice herself for her child and would want me to let her go instead of the child.
  • OR, I would let them both go and let them hold onto each other so my spouse and child would survive and I would be the one to die.
  • This is an extremely difficult ethical dilemma. I do agree that the spouse should be the one to go. It would be his/her wish as well to be the one to go and to save his/her child(ren).
  • Well everyone is unique and original, so saying "oh you can always get another wife.." as if a wife is a more expendable item than any other human, is irrelevant, because you could never replace the individual, and the same can be said about a child; "..you can always have more kids..", but they'd never be the same kids!! Anyway, losing either one would NOT be an option for me, so I would suddenly develope super human strength and haul them both to safety!!! Sorry but that's just the way is has to be..
  • I think my wife and I would both agree it would be more fair to save our child. It would be terribly difficult, but I have read about people having to make similar decisions.
  • If the situation was reversed, I would certainly want my wife to let me go, and am certain she would feel the same way. Besides--I can afford to die, but can't afford to retire!
  • Whatever answer you give, at this moment, will not be the actual decision you make in this situation. its easy to sit behind a quite monitor and keyboard and make this decision for an answer. but, in real life and a real life situation, the events happen so quickly, thats its impossible to answer this question. Bottom line, no one can answer this question, because what you think now, will not happen then. Been there, done that.
