  • Greed and laziness... *Wow... that was easy!
  • Obsolete control system. Our bodies are designed for pre-refrigeration, pre-processed food times. All food had to be hunted or collected then eaten within a day or two, and hunting and collecting were hard work. When you were hungry, you had to do them. But when you got reasonably full up, the the cost/benefit of hunting for more foos vs lazing around means that you stopped hunting, and hence stopped eating. But when your "hunting trip" ends at the refrigerator, you don't have the same incentive to stop when you have had enough but not too much. It is too cheap and easy to have anothr helping or just bigger portions.
  • Because most people take equally poor care of their vehicles? ;)
