  • There are quite a few variables. If the boat is the same size in ever case, I would say it might be a toss up between fixing up an old boat or buying a new one. It just depends on how much you want to spend in each case and/or how much it would take to fix it or buy it.
  • Still refurbishing our old boat and have found that it takes much longer than anticipated which also means more money. Also much more expensive than realised. Buy a new boat and get out there faster. Probably spend less money. Unless, you can get an old boat that does not need much done on it and is a good price. Highly unlikey though, unless it is a hurrican damaged one.
  • Another thought from me again. Don't do an old boat. Tooo many problems. If you have time , ie 5 years and you are good with your hands, buy a hull deck and bulkheads and then finish it. Don't try and do it in less than 5 years. This is genuine. If you dont' have the time, new boat or second hand that is ready to go. Don't just look around in your area, surf the world for boats.
  • There are way too many variables to answer the question succinctly. Short term, would be the last option. Long term would be 1st or 2nd option.
