I don't know. I have a genetic condition passed on from my mother - scoliosis, curvature of the spine - and it effectively kept me from entering the military, which is all I wanted to do from the time I was in elementary school. It doesn't bother me or stop me from doing things now, but judging from my mother's experience, I may be facing many years of pain. Would I want to prevent my child from experiencing the same thing if I could? Absolutely, but genetic modification won't be the only way to fix scoliosis.
