  • I didn't get to see anything but highlights of the basketball. But, I was not surprised they won at all. I think most were shocked and surprised at how they didn't win LAST time....they were a bit cocky and full of themselves...or that's how they came across. I was absolutely enthralled with Michael Phelps, as I'm sure a lot of Americans were. I still remember having a Mark Spitz poster up in '72!
  • I'm more surprised that the US women lost in softball than the men losing baseball.
  • Disappointed, but then again, we don't send our pros. They are basically college kids.
  • Not me, major leaguers don't play and many of the teams in central America are awesome.
  • I'm not shocked. Baseball has stopped being a sport solely dominated by American players. It is a highly competitive sport in other areas of the world, with ever increasing level of play. The past World Baseball Classic (2006) won by Japan was another example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_World_Baseball_Classic
  • I was really shocked, i punched the TV, got electruted
  • I'm not at all shocked. Baseball is also THE national sport in Cuba and a highly-regarded one in Japan, and these nations actually send strong teams to the Olympics. If anyone seriously believed that a bunch of AAA prospects from the MLB were better than the top squads from Cuba and Japan, then they were deluding themselves from the very start. They were medal contenders, but not even favorites, let alone strong favorites.
  • It will not matter in future because that was the last appearance of baseball as an Olympic Sport.
