Does anyone know a good home remedy for treating oral thrush in a breastfed newborn? I, myself, am already on probiotics.

Nystatin is the only thing I know of Lady A. It isn't a home remedy, but it isn't exactly a heavy duty medicine either. It doesn't taste bad. I've had to take it myself. Do it quickly, if it spreads to your nipples its painful. It isn't something you want to have. You can use the Nystatin on yourself, by the way.

Most cases go away without medical treatment within a week or two. If you are breastfeeding and your nipples are red and sore, there's a chance you may have a yeast infection on your nipples, and that you and the baby are passing it back and forth. If so, you may want to talk to the doctor about using an anti fungal ointment on your nipples while the baby is being treated with the anti fungal solution. You could try applying a bit of glycerine to the affected area as glycerin heals these oral thrush.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear your baby has this. I stay with natural cures for any kind of thrush or yeast infections. I know from experience that antibiotics can casue thrush or yeast infections. I looked on the web for places that had natural cures. After too many different sites with different info, I came across a book that covers natural cures for oral thrush, vaginal yeast infections, skin yeast infections, even male.
