LOL- THAT is a great question and it has been bothering me too !

I have seen about 30 variations of Heinz sauce, not quite the 57 as stated on Ketchup bottles, but alot of them are no longer in production.
-
Old joke They don't have 56 other varieties of ketchup. 57 was a number chosen back in the 1800s to represent the large variety of canned and other goods that the company sold. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_57

I'm assuming by "heine's" you Mean Heinz lol i know alot about Heinz there's a big factory for Heinz in my town. My father worked there my grandfather worked there and so on. The other 56 varieties are referring to their other products like juices and canned foods there's hundreds of other products but the number 57 just stuck with them.
-
The numbers came about because it was Heinz's and his wife's lucky numbers. It had nothing to do with other varieties.

Sorry, there aren't 57 Varieties of ketchup. At the time that number was selected, there were 57 different products which Mr. Heinz and his family produced. When you look around the border of most of the labels, many times you'll see a Keystone shape. This represents Pennsylvania, where the Heinz family started selling their products on a wider basis. The first Heinz manufacturing plant AND the Executive Offices as well as the International Headquarters is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In the UK when something is considered "THE Best", it's known as "a Heinz". Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! Sources: Some factoids I learned a very long time ago.

For the same reason you don't see the other 408 formulas of 409 although I don't know why it took them so long to get it right there's not really that many basic cleaning ingredients.
