hmmm well as far as society goes now words DO hurt you. with that I leave you with this poem: Sticks and stones break many bones when aimed with angry art; words can sting like anything but silence breaks the heart.

The same thing that happened to accountability and responsibility. Too many lawyers found out they could make money by convincing people to sue for crap reasons... The old lady who burned her va-jay-jay with hot coffee... The neighbor whose kid fell out of your tree... The guy hurt by your opening your car door in front of his bicycle while he was showing off to the girl across the street... The skateboard park who didn't have notices up that serious injury could result if you weren't already good at it... The guy who's car you bumped (and did NO damage to either) who now has a permanent whiplash injury (yeah, right)... The guy who killed someone who claims it was because he was beaten as a child... Few people take any responsibility for their own problems and life.
