Middle school. It does not matter. Just make sure you do well enough to place into good high school courses and see if you can take any 9th grade courses in 8th grade. Besides that, it will have no impact on your higher education. What's the project on, anyway? Try Encyclopedia Brittanica for a lot of information (eb.com).

It's called a Griot Project, it's all about Africa and we have to make a video, and research Traditions, Geography, Empires, And Kingdoms and make that in to a script. We're all supposed to work on the tradtions, geography... sperrately and have our information and all write the script together, but they've done nothing, so I have to reearch it all, + write the script + film and be in the video. :(

You should immediately contact your teacher - at school, before or after, if you have time, but if you don't, e-mail. Most will be sympathetic to your situation and either get your group member's butts in gear or offer you some alternatives. If you do have lots of time, don't sweat it - work closely with your teacher both to let him/her know that you are committed but also to get your group members more involved. If this project is due soon, I'd lock myself in my room and get this done. Prepare thoroughly. Write an outline. Do your research at the library as well as on the computer and take notes on it as you do so. Be as creative as possible and do extra visuals if you have time. Don't trust your group members to do anything because that risks your grade. I've been in your situation before and it sucks. Try your hardest and be sure your teacher was filled in on your situation beforehand. This may sound like sucking up, and in a way it is. But I'm one of those people who HAS to get a good grade, and this is how I would do it. Good luck! Be sure to treat yourself to some ice cream when this is over - you deserve it.

Although it may not be considered cool to tell the teacher, it is not fair for you to do all of the work and them earn the same grade as you. You should definately tell your teacher, because they can either make the others share your work or adjust their grades to reflect their participation in the project. I am in college and I still have that problem with my lab group in my engineering class.
