I've never actually written a complaint letter that I mailed to the company itself... but I have negatively rated the SHIT out of them. I have a lot of anger today. I should write letters to all of the companies that have screwed me over...

Complaint letters-written them for decades and still believe they work. In the old days you might get some kind of partial refund. Now the best you can hope for seems to be script that you can use at the establishment with which you were unhappy in the first place. But, in a sense of fairness, you might occasionally try an "attaboy" letter occasionally. If you don't get direct response things certainly seem to work well next time.

I complained about the service at a Ruth's Chris steakhouse on their website and they sent me a $100 gift card and an apology from the manager.

Yes, a few times. I had two bottles of Laphroaig single malt whisky where the cork had left little bits in the whisky. I drank them anyway, but wrote to tell them about it, and they very kindly sent me two free bottles as replacements. I also wrote to the TV Times magazine once over a magic program that was billed as features "never before seen illusions", except it was a repeat. I told them that if it was a repeat, then the illusions must have been seen before. I got a BS reply, as I'd expected. And I once wrote to Sainsbury's supermarket about a wine label that contained conflicting information. They wrote back, with a gift voucher, and they even changed the wine label on the next vintage of that wine based on my letter.

Yes and usually their PR staff would call back to confirm on the complains.When the product was malfunction they would only replace the defected parts and only the service is free.

Yes. I wrote a letter of complaint to HM Customs & Excise after being treated badly by one of the customs officers at Folkestone. They called me 3 times, apologised twice and paid for a full inspection of my car afterwards at a garage of my choosing.

Bought a pack of 36 batteries, and found that one or two of them burst and covered the rest of them with junk. Went through their website and they mailed me a coupon for more than the amount that I spent. First time I had trouble with this brand, and the company handled it quickly and well.

I used to do that all the time and I would get free stuff all the time. They so rarely get a thank you letter that they usually send you a thank you for thanking us gift. =P
