  • I view breastfeeding as a private interaction between mother and baby. It's a delicate and tender ritual which doesn't fit in with the busy and frenetic pace of a mall, park, or restaurant. I should add that breastfeeding is not viewed the same way everywhere. In Europe, women are less inhibited about showing their breasts, and public breastfeeding seemed ubiquitous when I went there last summmer.
  • I have stated in another thread that I believe that some people have a difficult time separating the sexual aspects of breasts. I think that this makes people uncomfortable. Of course, this is just my opinion. Worthy of exploration, I think.
  • It's simple. Some people see a breast as a purley sexual part of the body - and thus they treat a mother breastfeeding like they would treat a man dangling his penis about in the middle of a shopping center. I don't react this way personally: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/192514
  • I think it might be uncomfortable for both sides. I don't mind and I don't stare. It's normal I guess.
