Interesting question but all dependent on the weight of the body and what sort of land it hits on impact, and maybe the angle of the landing too.....but it WILL make a mess ;0)

If the body is at rest relative to the earth when it begins its descent it doesn't matter whether it falls from 35,000ft or 1,000ft, the result will be the same. Wind resistance ensures that any falling body reaches a terminal velocity, and it won't fall any faster than that.
