  • I think it's 16 for most events.
  • There was a controversy at the Beijing Olympics this year. The Chinese woman's gymnastic team looked too young to compete. So, the Chinese had to present their passports to the officials to "prove" that they were all over 16. So, I would say that that is a pretty good indicator that 16 is the minimum age to compete. (I put prove in quotes above, because I don't particularly trust regimes that are as authoritarian as the Chinese government to be honest. They could easily have issued official passports with false birth dates for these girls. I am not saying that they did, but I would put it past them to do so just to win at the games.)
  • You have to be 16 in the Olympic year. So you could be 15 and compete.
