The Beatles' success was a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. toughness, resiliancy, persistence and, of course, unique abilities.. and they dreamed big, The Beatles also continued to absorb influences throughout their career — long after their initial success

At least 3 reasons: 1. Lennon and McCartney were absolute musical geniuses. Possibly the best musical attribute of each is the way they worked with the other and yielded to the best ideas. Together they devised and crafted songs in such a way that they bring out the musicality in the listener. You actually kind of feel like you are bringing the music out of the recording. 2. Production. George Martin was a genius music producer. He knew which ideas to hold back and which to embellish himself. (Some disagree with the string section added to Long, Winding Road). George Martin has stated something to the effect of "John and Paul would routinely get a phenomenal result from some tricky operation on primitive recording equipment and just be like, "Yeah, so?"" They expected something transcendentally good everytime they went into the studio, but didn't pull their hair out when it didn't happen. 3. There is no force as powerful as an idea whose time has come. The Beatles were in the right place at the right time and led the crest of a cultural wave that had to hit.

Good Harmonies. Really Good Guitar Playing. Very Prolific: Sometimes New Song Every 4-8 Weeks. I Think The Beatles Wrote Around 200 Songs. No Two Songs Alike. Maybe A Little Over 100 Were Appealing To Many. Oftentimes The Song Had A New Sound Within It. Good Lyrics: Simple/Happy Other Times Cryptic. Many Songs So Original So Creative. At Times Paul and/or John Would Change Their Voice. All Kinds of Different Musical Instruments Highlighted. Their Name "Beatles" Original & Creative. Their Hair Cuts Contributed To Their Fame. On Stage They Moved Cool. Especially Paul. Much Of The Music Of The Beatles Came From The Innards Of Paul, John & George. In Other Words They Wrote Most Of Their Own Material. They Were One Of The First Acts That Wrote Most Of Their Own Music. To Most Of Us, Writing Music Is Not Easy. But To Write Over 100 Songs That Were Liked By Numerous People In The World Is Unheard Of. The Beatles Act Will Probably Never Be Repeated Again. The Beatles Influenced Many To Write Their Own Material.

There are many many factors that contributed to The Beatles success. It was the right time, the right songs, the right performances. It was just right. And everything had to be as it was. And it was! I do think the variety in songs/styles is what kept the Beatles constantly relevant throughout the 60s (and beyond.) They could have just kept making 1964 style music but they kept evolving and the rest of the music world evolved with them.

I think it was the timing. There was a young generation longing to be rebellious and the difference in hair style and the difference in Music gave that generation and escape route. I like their music and singing though. I am not saying the they were not great artists. But the generation at that time found the outlet that they could join forces under.
