I doubt there is a limit, or that the limit can only be reached when every single AB user has given a positive rating, and obviously this increases all the time whenever a new user signs up. You can rate an answer up regardless of the age of the answer so if this site were to go on for a century, some answers may well easily be in the thousands of points range. It gets harder and harder though, as the question itself will become lost amongst others, as more and more are asked in that category. EDIT - following your comment, asking for the highst scoring qustion, I point you in this direction: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/86908 "What are levels on Answerbag?" asked by the answerbag staff as a way to explain how the new levels worked following the transition to AB version 4. It currently has 289 points. In fact the toprated answer now is by superpanda2, who shot past the staff answer, and is probably the highest rated answer as well (currently 500 points). The top 'real' question, as in asked by a member of the community for the answer, not asked and answered by the staff, is "What do you look like?", asked by satine who has received 205 points for this query. To check these out yourself, on the front page, scroll down to "See More Questions", click on it then click on the 'Learn (best Q&A)' tab, which displays the highest rated questions in order.

I don't know but gtravels gets some really high scoring ones. She uses a monkey with lipstick pic very effectively. Edit: That didn't sound very nice lol. She also gives good answers (not that the monkey pic isn't a good answer).
