Relient K. Hands down.
-
The Misfits
-
The Velvet Underground... or is that pre-punk?
-
I think Anti-Flag is one of the only true punk bands around nowadays.
-
Sex Pistols
-
Crass - does anyone remember them?
-
The Clash, great band...
-
The Dead Kennedys
-
I can't pick a single best, just offer up three that that should be considered equally. The Clash, Sex Pistols and the Sub Humans in no particular order. All three, I think deserve it, for what they brought to the table.
-
The Ramones, if you're only talking about punk and not its derivatives.
-
The one that didn't pretend to know how to sing. Or the one that didn't bash Conservatives.
-
Joy Division
-
operation ivy, even though it is one album
-
Siouxsie & The Banshees, although they were only really "punk" for the first year or so, and those weren't what I'd consider their best years. So I guess if we're gonna get technical I vote for The Clash- they had a kind of nobility behind the stroppiness that I always find a bit absent from The Sex Pistols .

Is Blondie punk? I love Blondie
-
You bastard, you asked this when I wasn't around so now I have to answer with the same answer others have already given! And that would be THE CLASH!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS!!!!!!!!!
-
Blink 182...just kiddin! Probably the Ramones. They really did it first. As much as London wants to claim it...Punk is totally American. It started in New York City first.
-
I've got to say, Siouxsie and the Banshees. They were not only punk, they were instrumental in helping form other crossover music bands during the mid- to late-80's. They are FRACKING awesome!
-
Either The Misfits or Black Flag
-
most def. academy is or senses fails!!!!
-
The Clash, absolutely
-
I was gonna say the Violent Femmes, then I saw someone say the Clash and I was like, 'yeah, I love the Clash', then I remembered the Ramones...can't decide...I can't do this question justice.
-
misfits, minor threat, clash, black flag, dead kennedys and the sex pistols.
-
The Clash of course. X comes in a close second, but mostly because of how delciousely obscure they are, and I'm very partial to the Kinks early stuff. But neither of them quite measure up to the Clash for sheer punky goodness.
-
Black Flag or Minor Threat (hey, cut me some slack I am from Washington DC and I like the locals). All the other greats have been mentioned, so why rehash?
-
Rancid
-
Iggy and the Stooges - all the rest were trying to measure up to these guys. If you don't believe me ask them. Just about every other contender - Pistols, Ramones, Misfits, etc. have said so much.
-
MxPx, they inspired Green Day, who who are also a great band.
-
The Dwarves
-
Ghoti Hook
-
fugazi or the ramones
-
It's 4 way tie for the best. sex pistols the clash dead kennedys circle jerks

Well it's hard to tell. In one spectrum Nirvana could be the greatest but in another spectrum it's the Sex Pistols. The Who are good too.
-

Sorry can't name one, because all good for different reasons a) Australia's The Saints in 1976 their single - I'm Stranded came before the Sex Pistols b) The Clash - London Calling c) Australia's 1980's post punk bank The Olympic Sideburns, brilliant musicians & brilliant live. All very different and yet all punk bands.
-

The Living End, Taking Back Sunday, Something With Numbers and plenty of others

-
bad Brains
-
Rancid!!! even though they get all experimental with ska... and most people will probably look down on me for picking a modern punk band, but i DO appreciate that the ramones, the clash, the saints, etc. made punk what it is today!
-
The Germs! And I wouldn't necessarily consider the Velvet Underground Punk, but they paved the way for Punk bands to come. The Stooges were Punk.
-
Flogging Molly
-
I might get some crap for this, but I am going to say Green Day. Their music has evolved so much that they redefined punk rock, and their live show is the best I have ever seen.
-
The Germs
