  • I will refer you to Jodies answer. It is the best I have seen. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/365425 We...it's against AB policy to ask for points, I'll put it like that. In "How do I write a good question?", AB-Joel wrote: "Please do not ask for points in your questions. These questions will be rejected, and if repeated, further disciplinary action will be taken." http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1417 Most people consider asking for points to be a little bit like asking for a compliment. My personal view, which has mellowed considerably, is that they're just points. Most of the people who ask for points are newbies. Why not cut them a little slack? For that matter, why not cut ourselves a little slack? Relax. Sticking to rules is fine. I realized I don't need to act like a witch about the whole thing. Someone else can flag. God knows the Happy Flaggers are out there. But...if I start seeing, "I'm 5,000 points away from Maestro. Anyone want to help me out?" I might just change my mind again, LOL.
  • there is a rule and it can get you sent to the penalty box. the pb is the same as being online and dysfunctional with answerbag.com. nothing works. its easier just to whine about not getting any points, or cry and moan about no one answering your questions, or cry and moan more about being ignored. you will get over two hundred points in just a few minutes. everyone hates to see a player get depressed over points.
  • Yes there is.
  • Yes. Questions that actually ask for points will be flagged as nonsense. Personally I don't see the point of asking for points. I would rather ask for money ;)
  • Yes. It makes the site very boring. We want to see interesting questions. Failing that, we want to see genuine questions, not "inward looking" ones.
  • No, people are asking congratulating questions over and over!
  • Yes, those kinds of questions are flagged as nonsense and rightfully so.
  • There shouldn't be but there is....you can ask all you want but if I don't want to give them, I won't. I'll just move on to another question.
  • Questions like: Who wants points? are clearly out of the bounds here and will be ruled as nonsense. All fill in the blank questions are merely begging for points IMO too as well as congratulatory questions which are within the bounds since these seem to be nothing more than point parades which I am guilty of as well.
  • Yes. It has been made clear by the staff and the site creator, AB-Joel that it is not allowed and your question or answer with such will be rejected. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1417 "Please do not ask for points in your questions. These questions will be rejected, and if repeated, further disciplinary action will be taken." And that is what happens to all such questions and answers when found. They are flagged and rejected.
  • Yes, there is. If anyone asks for points, the question will be flagged.
  • I guess so, given the previous answer(s). It is blatant laziness, so just have fun and earn it!
  • Yeah, it's not very good etiquette besides.
  • How many people visit here? 200 000? How would you be, wading through 200 000 questions, all of them simply asking for points?
  • Yep. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1417 It is also against the rules to OFFER points in questions as well.
