would a person from ohio be able to bring cans into michigan and still be able to get 10 cents per can? or does the can have to be purchased in michigan to be able to be turned in?
-
The amount printed on the can is the amount that you paid up front when you bought the drink. For example, if I buy a soda for $.65 in California I'm really paying $.60 for the soda and 5 cents as a refundable deposit. When I bring the can to be recycled, I get my 5 cents back, so the $.05 isn't the value of the can, it's just the deposit amount (which could be 1 cent or 1 dollar) that my can is now collateral for.
