  • In retrospect we have always inherited Black Labs or variations on that them - Black Lab Rott mix, Black Lab Rhodesian ridge back mix, Black Lab Sheppard mix, Black Lab Collie mix, etc. We have never, ever went out looking for a dog - never. We have inherited dogs from people no longer able to care for them, have had dogs dumped on us, have found strays which we were never able to find their first home - and always it appears we end up with a Black-Lab or Black Lab mix. We have never had any major problems with these dogs, other than severe emotional trauma in one who was abused badly in her youth, and the one with serious physical issues after being hit by a car. All have been faithful, loyal and loving. A few have been particularly stubborn. LOL So since I am accustomed with the lab breed I would have to stick with what I know. I'm not saying that collies are bad - I honestly have not had that much personal experience with them.
