  • If shampoo is used properly, one does not rinse it out just after putting it in. The proper way to shampoo hair is to massage the shampoo into the hair and scalp to help lift dirt off the scalp and out of the hair and then rinse. Shampoo contains one of many cleansing agents designed to lift dirt from the hair and scalp faster and better than just "washing" hair with plain water. Hope this helps.
  • Shampoo molecules have one end that is attracted to dirt and oil, and one end that is attracted to water. So when you put it on, it attaches itself to the dirt and oil, and when you rinse it out, the other end attatches to the water, bringing the dirt and oil out with it.
