Geometry question, a guy wire is to be attached to the top of a 30 ft. pole, at an angle of 60 degrees with the ground. How much guy wire is needed? How far from the base of the pole does it need to be anchored?

You have a right triangle with 90, 60, and 30 degrees. You could use Trigonometry, but it's been so long that I don't remember how to do it. Why don't you look in your textbook and then let me know?

If the pole is perpendicular to the ground, then the guy wire is forming the hypotenuse of a right triangle, in which case, you can use the Pythagorean theorem to determine the necessary length of the wire. [edit] My bad... see below comments.
