• If you practice it you should at very least know how to spell it. A lot of the Korean arts actually require you to know the names of the strikes in the language. My MUAI THAI (not MUAY THAI OR MUI TAHI) instructor would punish me if I were to embarass something that was so important to him in that manner.

  supposedly a tae kwon do spinning roundhouse (not sure if thats what it is, bren foster did it on fight science) is the strongest kick.

• Yes, really ... although it is not a combat art at all, it is a health science that develops the body so it is better able to perform in combat ... it is meant to be mixed with some sort of a fighting style.

• That's awesome... my boyfriend does Chi Kung and I do fighting martial arts. He's been wanting to take one with me but we can't find one that's suitable for him (he's a body-builder) that isn't terribly expensive. We were really interested in Krav Maga or Systemma but both are soooo expensive in this area. My Karate & Taekwon Do dojos both closed recently =( so now I'm just trying to find a good school with reasonable prices...

Chi Kung is listed and described as the health & strength branch of Tai Chi Chuan and were given as tribute to the Emperor to be the best way to have the most power, along with Taoist 5 Element Nutrition ...

• I'm sorry but you and I have different definitions of SCIENTIFIC research. I have read portions of it and it isn't scientific by any means because it is completely biased. A truly scientific study would be nearly impossible because all of the martial arts would need to be studied under identical situations (everyone on exact same diet, possibly subject matched with a control, set time frame/ideal workout parameters etc.). You are clearly the victim of what actual scientists, like myself, call bad science.

• Without such materials and methods a proper comparison can't be done, and therefore any attempt to label one martial art as superior is erroneous.

• Like I said, that wasn't a study. It was an observation that didn't even have a control group. "Studies" like that are the reason that people buy the fitness equipment that you see on TV at 3:00 AM. BTW, I wish it was that easy to get grants.
