  • Spending time on a site such as this may be a way to relieve a little stress.
  • You need to learn how to keep your family at a greater distance. If they live with you, it will be difficult, but if it's brothers and sisters or parents living separately, you can just "manage" them by limiting your communication with them. Force them to leave messages on your cell phone (or machine). When you hear the messages, don't respond right away. Give it some time. Basically, you are currently running "open throttle" and it's no wonder you are stressed. Figure out ways of taking your foot off the gas when you can. Make it clear to your family that you have to have time to unwind and relax or you won't be able to help them. Let them understand how it will affect them if they don't give you any room. As an analogy, when you're on a plane, they always tell you to put on your oxygen mask first, then put it on your kids. Because if you pass out, you cannot help your kids. So you need to have a stable base for yourself before you can help other people.
  • Stress control is a skill, and it takes some learning. It is a GOOD use of your time to learn about it. There are books that can help, from the library or Amazon. The bottom line is that stressing out doesn't help you get through the difficult times, so learning to control it will actually leave you with more strength, time and energy to deal with the real problems. Specific skills are things like sequentially paying attention to different muscles, in your arms, your shoulders, your neck, your forehead, etc, and consciously relaxing them. Good luck!
