No. A hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and often the ovaries and fallopian tubes. A menstrual period is the shedding of the uterine lining that builds up in the uterus in order to support a pregnancy should one occur. Without a uterus, the uterine lining can't build up or shed.

It depends if you decide to keep your cervix; there could be some remaining lining of the endometrium left, therefore it can cause spotting once a month. You should consult your doctor if this is happening, I'm sure there is a way of fixing the problem. Anonymous

No, you dont continue having your period...but if is just a partial...you will continue to have fluctuations in your hormone levels and will still go through menopause, although possibly early.

My wife had a hysterectomy at age 24. Her uterus, tubes, and ovaries were removed in that operation. All she had left was her vagina, and her cervix was gone, but she was still very interested in sex after her six week healing period. From my point of view, it was nice she no longer had periods and neat she couldn't get pregnant. She was hot in the sack.
