  • I am because it's the cheapest, and I don't really need anything faster. It only gets annoying when I download videos, that takes FOREVER!! Other than that dial-up is fine for me.
  • the choice's are dialup at 9.95 with highspeed or satellite at$50-60 per month after you pay $300.00 or more to have it installed no cable, no DSL so the choice is pretty clear for me. I paid the one time fee of $19.00 for the highspeed and $9.95 a month afterwards. It I ran a business it might be different, but I have access to DSL where I go to school 2 days a week and can download unlimited there onto 32G jumpdrive and bring home.
  • I am on dial-up, and due to the poor wiring here, I connect at 26.4K at best though my download speeds are limited to about 2.9Kbps at best. There are no other options in this area except POSSIBLY satellite. I am one of the lucky ones as I actually have a spot in my yard to place a dish and aim it properly, though many in the area are blocked by hills and/or trees. However, I can't afford it. Until the price goes down to compare with DSL, I'm out.
  • I still frequently connect using dial-up because I travel a lot and can't always stay at a hotel with free wireless Internet. There's also the point that while my cable Internet goes down about twice a year (usually during an ice storm) the phone lines have never gone down (even during the aforementioned ice storm) and I have a laptop and a car battery inverter (turns 12v DC car battery into pseudo-110v AC). I don't pay a monthly fee though. I found a prepaid Internet service called Budget Dialup which lets me buy a block of time (my block is usually $9.95 for 20 hours, though I can get 10 hours for $6 and 60 hours for $28.95) and then use it up slowly over a year's time. Also, I discovered an East Coast dial-up Internet Service Provider, and a West Coast dial-up Internet Service Provider, both of which do not charge for access and have local numbers (if you aren't local to their numbers, if you have unlimited long-distance service on your land-line phone you can still connect to them for free). This is the link to the AnswerBag Answer where I list both of them: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4297123 FREE Dial-up Internet Service Providers. You can't say "FREE" about Cable, DSL, or Satellite Internet Service Providers.
