Hey, i believe in God, i go to church, and my family is made of christians. what can i do to like him? how do i know he's there and not like him? i want to like him, and i find it troubling. what should i do? please help me!

You are making it too complicated. Knowing god is completely separate from religion. In fact, religion really stands in the way of knowing god because religions provide a man-made structure of rules, doctrines and dogmas that satisfy people's desire to control other people through religion and also take their money along the way. God is within each person. Just look for the master within sincerely and without preconceived notions. It just might be that once you see god within you that you'll also start seeing god in the world around you. Also, don't get hung up on god being a "him". The creator who brought this world into existance is probably genderless. If you want an experiment to try, just find a nice quite place where you can sit without any distractions. Sit down, take some deep breaths and then just open you mind. You might not get it right the first time. You may not get it right for many times after that. But, if you keep trying, you'll eventually discover that something will happen - and in that moment you will realize that you just experienced god.

top answer soo true lol wa religion r u im a jehovahs witness basically cos their everything u said they dnt have no rules except acting civil obviously u dnt even have to pay if u dnt wnt to u get a free bible and books and u get all the answers u ask for my advice is listen to da top answer and give jehovahs witnesses a chance if u dnt like em dnt worry but my guess is theyll help u to love god as they did my family weve tried everything from christianity to spiritualism salvation army catholics and probelly mre were convinced its the right religion thnx for listening let us know how u get on

If you don't like him, that still means you believe he exists. If he exists than you know he created you and everything you know. If you don't like God, you aren't liking yourself. Do you not like yourself?

My answer to you, continue on how you are. You sound like you have solid roots, you believe already and you have a support net of people that believe. Spend time with your family. I would also recommend going on a mission trip with your local church, if you have a Vineyard Church nearby they have missions all the time. It is very rewarding and brings you very close to God to do his work in places less fortunate. Good luck and God bless

Let's see.... 1. Stop going to school. Unfortunately, any education you've received up to this point is damage done (unless you were blessed enough to be raised in a catholic school). 2. Go to church every day. Give them all your money. 3. Realize that you're a stupid,filthy, good-for-nothing piece of shit that will only amount to anything. Then realize that God's the only one who will ever love you. 4. Never watch the news. EVER. Watch The Disney Channel. Don't want you exposing yourself to the real world, that'll fuck up your opinion of the big guy. 5. Learn to meditate. Your mantra shall be "He works in mysterious ways. Repeat it over and over again, focusing on how much smarter he is than you, and how there MUST be some rhyme or reason why he'd make the world the way he did. (Optional) Any controlled substance, preferably those that induce brain damage and/or hallucinogenic states.

You can only like Him, Waffles, as you gradually become like Him. You do that as you do as He did: Serve others, "He went about doing good." Pray to "the Father", as He did. Study His ways, in holy writ. You say you "go to church". It is one thing to simply go there [for one hour a week], but do you SERVE there?? You need to serve your congregation, as Christs early Christians did. You see, basically, the churches today have lost their way. You need to find Jesus' Church - His real church.
