MSG is something that is added to food to improve and accentuate its taste. Some people have alergies to it. I believe that it is a naturally-occuring amino acid that is manufactured to add additional flavor to foods.

MSG is a flavor enhancer that was discovered and patented in 1909 by the Ajinomoto Corporation of Japan. It is a sodium salt of glutamic acid that targets specific receptor cells within the taste buds, giving food a more savory taste. It's chemical name is: 2-aminopentanedioic acid, 2-aminoglutaric acid, 1-aminopropane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid

In addition to the above, you should know that MSG is made from beets, which contain a lot of sugar. Consequently, it gets your blood sugar to rise quicker than is desirable or good for you. You can ask your local friendly Chinese resturant not to add MSG to those foods that it can control. (By the way, do those ears belong to Minnie Mouse or are you a Playboy bunny girl in your spare time ?)
