Assume that because of my job that I have no intelligence and treat me like such.

Spend an hour talking to me, making it appear that you enjoy talking to me and you like my product. Then, you tell me in the end that you're not interested! What a waste of time!

I've done telemarketing, and believe me, they`ve heard it all. In fact, if you just insult them and hang up or whatever, you are actually doing them a service. It means they can go right away to the next call. Insulting them, or their mother, or calling them names, it's all water off a duck's back. Most of them are pretty thick skinned, otherwise they wouldn`t be in the business. What really ticks them off though, is to be very nice, act very interested in their product, and keep them on the phone for as long as possible. Make them think they have definitely made a sale, and that you are more than willing to buy from them. Then, after wasting lots of their time, change your mind and say, ok thank you but I'm not interested, THEN hang up. Believe me they will be fuming.

All of these things may work, but why insult another human being because of his/her job. He/she is only trying to make a buck just the same as anybody else. I would either get to recognize the phone numbers and not answer, (usually the same ones call over and over), or if I did answer simply say "no thank you, have a good day". You might even ask them to not call you any more and then hang up!!!

you can't, b/c you are the victim. it's like saying what can someone being raped do to the raper to insult him/her, while being raped. um... ok.... maybe not a good analogy, but you get the point. :)
