So it seems you are asking for an opinion here so this is mine: Everything happens for a reason. To make me a stronger person or to hold me back. Therefore, I feel it is my choice to decide whether or not I will make it a positive addition in my life or let it drag me down to the pits. I have been sick all my life but decided to do all that I can to the best of my abilities. Not to prove to the world I could do it, but to positively reinforce my sense of gain. I became blind in one eye, but I'm positive it will not make me a worse parent rather more aware of my surroundings to keep my family safe. I walk with a cane yet refuse to use the easier handicap parking space because I know I can still make it to the market. I'm positive about life even though my husband was murdered because I had to face the world more strongly with my beliefs and dedication to help pass a new federal court law saying that people can't just get away with murder. (If you want more info on that just ask) I may screw up from time to time but in the end I know my children will be the better for it. Why did I start thinking positive about life? Because despite all the bad in the world my kids will have good memories of a loving and capable mother.
But this is just my take on it.

The real key here would be that everything "seems" to be going wrong. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Can you really be absolutely sure that EVERYTHING is going wrong? Might you not just be going through a bad patch? Not to say that it may not be terrible, but how does it rate against the entirety of your life? Or all of life for that matter? Life on this glorious planet of ours has shown us nothing, if not that everything has its time, its cycle, it reason.

If you currently find yourself in doubt of any of this, realize and know that there once was a time that you didn't doubt it. And, more than likely, there will be a time you don't doubt it again at some point. If you can't seem to find a hand-hold to grasp right now anywhere else, then maybe this thought could help until you're better on your game.

I've been in a similar place, my friend, and I can tell you that while nothing is ever just "coming up roses and daffodils" there are loads of wonderful and interesting things to look forward to!

Start by turning off any negative thoughts, that automatically increases the posative side of your equation.

I found my hapiness niche in loving the unlovely. Among the homeless and slum communities I find a far higher percentage of happines and posative outlook ... even within the leper communities. It's a little quirkie living in a slum at the same level as my neighbors, while working in rather higher levels but it can be done. I wouldn't suggest that as a starting point for you or anyone else, but rather encourage you to take a look around at places you don't normally look.

There is more to thoughts than negative and positive ones..
    It's called Critical thinking..
You learn not to look something from one side but you have to see it from every point of view..
Like when you wanna do something, you think about what you should do to make it work and what could make it go wrong.. You learn to think what to do when you fail and what to do when you succeed..
So i guess this is the right thing to do..

It's kinda personal but positive thinkers are kinda dumb.. I know this one girl who was positive thinkers and one day she failed to do something and now she gets all depressed over it for months.. like i always say.. If you're used to eat sweets, you won't be able to bear it when you have to taste salt..

The same goes to negative thinkers and sorry,i'm too lazy to say it..

So i think the best way is to be FLEXIBLE and CRITICAL Thinkers

Volunteer somewhere for just one week....nursing home....work with special needs kids....soup kitchen, anywhere and believe me you will walk away feeling like a million dollars. When you give of yourself you walk a little taller and you see things in a whole new light.

    Yarnlady is happy every day

    Sing a song of sixpence,
    A pocket full of rye;
    Four and twenty blackbirds
    Baked in a pie.
    When the pie was opened,
    They all began to sing.
Now, wasn't that a dainty dish
    To set before the King?

what is going right? it is a paradox. what is darkness if everything everywhere was stark white? sorry i have been up for more than 24 hours so i think i am starting to make less sense, i will give myself the benefit of the doubt, i have the right idea, to continue so if everything was "perfect" you wouldnt like that and you couldnt appreciate the good things. so understand that bad seasons are much needed. pay attention to the lessons and ways to get out of bad situations. ummm i am sure you have had a miserable cold, do you remember it, i do, until it is gone and the second it is gone i dont remember, so i cant appreciate being well, not if i couldnt remember the stuffy nose-that runs, and sore throat. and you got through the cold, and you are going to get through the season, you will find a way, because that is what you do best!

Well, the first thing is your attitude and perspective on things.....surround yourself with positive people at work and at home. Dont listen to the naysayers..they may have a hidden agenda. Think of others around you......so many are much worse off than you will ever be. Find comfort in the fact that you are you and are a very unique creature. You are worth it.....start doing some inspirational self-talk. Tell yourself how wonderful and how worthy you are. Soon, things will seem different, even if NOTHING on the outside has really changed. As I said in the beginning, its all about attitude....Good luck!!!!

I do not have the answer. Two years ago I was laid off from a job I held for 12 years. I have been unable to get any job in that time. I was turned away from an employment agency whose job is to place people in jobs. I know (but cannot prove it was my age (56).I have prayed and prayed but I still have no job. What is the reason this has happened? Is it to teach me something? At my age no one thinks I am worth hiring and it is getting VERY old being turned down for a job. How do I begin to think positive?

My optimism didn't last long. I quickly turned into a pessimist. It was more useful and more reliable. But then I got to the point where I decided that life is a big tease. My pessimism got so bad I decided that all the answers I need are right under my nose but I just can't see them. They're teasing me. And that's how I developed a rough form of optimism.

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to
events and circumstances in one's life. Hope
implies a certain amount of perseverance i.e.
believing that a positive outcome is possible even
when there is some evidence to the contrary.

A person who dreads of 'what tomorrow may bring'
looses the zeal of life itself. He can not live in
the present even for one day. I do not agree that
'any person can fight the battles of just one
day'. There are many in the world who fight their
battles life long, and still live with some hope.

It is nice to live for today and complete what is
to be done today. But humans are distinguished
from the rest of the living beings by hope. For
other living beings, there may not be tomorrow.
But hope is life for humans. Tomorrow may not come
for a few. But the others are sure that there will
be a day after present one. And it is hoped by
many to be a little better than today. What is not
realized today may be within our reach tomorrow.
It is hope that make people to live through all
torments of life. The moment a person loses hope,
the very zeal to live is lost.

Living in the past is dreaming. Living in the
    present intuition connected basic instincts.
Living in hope of is humanistic rationality
    to look for future.

Hope - Pandora brought the jar with the evils and
opened it. It was the gods` gift to man, on the
outside a beautiful, enticing gift, called the
"lucky jar." Then all the evils, those lively,
winged beings, flew out of it. Since that time,
they roam around and do harm to men by day and
night. One single evil had not yet slipped out of
the jar. As Zeus had wished, Pandora slammed the
top down and it remained inside. So now man has
the lucky jar in his house forever and thinks the
world of the treasure. It is at his service; he
reaches for it when he fancies it. For he does not
know that the jar which Pandora brought was the
jar of evils, and he takes the remaining evil for
the greatest worldly good - it is hope! For Zeus
did not want man to throw his life away, no matter
how much the other evils might torment him, but
rather to go on letting himself be tormented anew.
To that end, he gives man hope.

"Three grand essentials to happiness in this life
are something to do, something to love, and
something to hope for." - Joseph Addison

    Hope! Hope! Hope!
Delicious Hope! when naught to man it left - -
    Of fortune destitute, of friends bereft;
When even his dog deserts him, and his goat
With tranquil disaffection chews his coat
While yet it hangs upon his back; then thou,
The star far-flaming on thine angel brow,
Descendest, radiant, from the skies to hint
The promise of a clerkship in the Mint.

    People sow seeds with hope
And hope is the seed of life
People through ages hoped for eternity
Because hope is as great as eternity
    Never give-up hope, never ever
Hope is your best mate, all the time
Even if all desert you unexpectedly
Hope will be with you, if you wish....

I practice meditation and Yoga to take life positively.

Wake up and begin to understand there is plenty of time. The universe is huge and endless. There is no need to rush or be in a hurry. You are under nobody's control but your own. No need to rush but at your own pace. It will all work out. Be positive and believe in yourself. Do this simplely by not listening to anybody but yourself. Thank you for asking and may the power of the light be with you always. It will get better for you in the near future. Let's start again, okay?
