You generally cannot file a Chapter 7 if you have a property you can only file a Chapter 13 which will take longer to be discharged as it counts from the time your debts are paid off and from that part normally you need 2 years after a BK, your house payments still have to be made and so long as your mortgage payments are reported as paid on time that matters the most.
