  • The customer service rep is PAID to provide excellent service. The customer is not. The customer can be as rude as they come, and as long as the representative is polite and provides the proper services, the business and employee continue to get paid in the future through repeat business. It is never the other way around.
  • I've had some pretty rude customers at some jobs, just smile and be polite.. that'll infuriate them far more than you getting stressed, which would give them a kind of satisfaction.
  • Yes. At least in retail, it does. When a customer walks in and acts rude, mean, or hostile towards me or another employee, they are making it harder for us to give them good service. Granted we still smile and are polite, but the temptation to 'get back' at the rude customer is increased.
