I have heard the seeds of the Revolution began as early as 1763. But I have a pay voucher for my great great great grandfather, dated June 16, 1774 that shows that he was paid by the Pennsylvania militia to harass the British in New Jersey. And further he collected a bounty for killing 4 British soldiers, one an officer. Now this was definitely an independent stat militia as Pennsylvania was under a British king appointed governor.With that document remains two 5 shilling notes printed by a Pennsylvania Committee for Independence. More than 2 years prior to the Declaration. That g-g-g grandfather became a Continental Captain in the Revolution, a major in the War of 1812. And finally a Brevet Brigadier General.
