  • I assume you mean the big nut in the center of the hub. This holds the CV joint and wheel bearings in the hub. You will find the N/S hub nut is left hand thread and un-fastens toward the back of the car. This prevents the nut coming loose during use. Buy a workshop manual for detailed method to remove and replce the driveshaft. You will need a BIG torque wrench to tighten the hub-nut on re-assembly. The nut MUST be tightened correctly as the wheel bearings are held in place by the drive-shaft and could sieze if too tight, causing the wheel to lock, or the whole wheel and hub assembly to fall off while driving if left too loose.
