At least 800 calories per day. If you are active, you could even have 1000 calories per day. 1200 at max, though. I just saw in another comment that you are only taking in 200 calories per day - if that is the case - you are undernourished. That could explain your struggle with sleeping habits.

You should always eat at LEAST 1000..
-
A lot because you're still growing!

Eat. I saw in one of your comments you were only taking in 200-500 a day. You will not live long on that. At your age I would go with at least 1200 - 1500. Here is a chart. http://www.statcan.ca/english/freepub/82-003-XIE/2006004/articles/habits/chrt/chart1h.htm

I had a guess at this but thought I best look it up. I think ideally you should too. It is so dependent upon type of exercise you do, how much you expect to weigh, etc. I searched ''ideal calorie intake'' and found several informative websites to advise me. Regards

This person obviously needs help when she is saying she eats 200 calories a day. My God!! That is a fu@king carrot for christ sake!!
-
I think it depends on your Body Mass Index, which would include your height, weight and energy level.
-
eat till full if you ask me
-
atleast 1500
-
I would say at least 1200 at your age, more if you're active. When I was that age, I was *quite* active and had to take in over 3200 according to most calculations and formulae. Guess what? I never gained weight! Starving yourself makes the body store what little it DOES get, so in addition to malnutrition, you wind up fatter.

The answer depends on more than just age and gender. Height, Body Mass Index and Waist to Hip ratio are factors. A good rule of thumb for baseline calories is your Ideal Body Weight x 11. Dr. Gourmet

For example, a 5'4 inch woman should weigh about 125 pounds. 125 x 11 = 1375. This is the baseline that would be needed to not gain or lose weight -- just to keep things functioning. More or fewer calories would be needed based on activity or the need to lose weight. Dr. Gourmet

Hello,, I assume you are wanting to lose weight. A 200 caloric diet a day is obviously a slow suicide. What you should do is take your body weight and multiply it by eleven. That would be the ultimate indication of how many calories you NEED to survive and stay at that weight. Now, think?/ if you want to lose weight- just try elminating certain foods that contain empty calories, exercise and COUNT your calories. I believe it is about three thousand calories to gain one pound, so in order to lose a pound, you have to eliminate three thousand calories. This is very simple to do on a daily, weekly basis, and I would not lose more than three pounds per week. Do some calculations and homework on your own. DO not starve yourself because you will only STORE TONS OF FAT, lose lean muscle mass and not lose weight initially because your body thinks you are starving yourself, which YOU ARE. Eat more frequent, smaller meals a day- try slimfast replacement meals for two of your meals a day to ensure proper nourishment. Aside from the slim fast, I suggest that because it will ensure you are not getting malnourished on a diet which can be common for young women. Again, I would like to empasise that a diet of less than a thousand per day is and can be fatal- leading to heart irregularities, menstral difficulties, hair loss, lack of skin texture and a myriad of other things Diets today can be deadly.. Take care and eat healthy and in moderation! Exercise three times a week. Dr. C
