What happen to Galileo just before his death?

Hmm, well, Galileo was forced to "recant" his work on the movements of the planets and other celestial bodies by the church. He did, but only to save his life. He was denied permission to write any more on his observations. It is said that before he died, he uttered the words, "Pero,..se MUOVE!" (But, they DO move).

What a great question, one I will surely enjoy answering! Galileo Galilei was a philosopher, an astronomer, and a mathematician, to name a few. I believe he was also an artist, and he has been referred to as "The Father of Modern Science" as well as "The Father of Observational Astronomy" Basically, he was accused of heresy for supporting the idea that the sun was the center of the solar system, and he was placed under house arrest. He went blind a few years before his death. His thoughts live on to this day, and many things have been named after him, and accredited to his work.
