Help answer this question below.

I have a 96 Ford Escort that died while driving and won't start now. It does crank over. I have spark, fuel pump is ok. I have fuel to the rail. What should I check next.

My boyfriend said that it sounds like a vacuum leak. He also stated there is no way for an owner to know if the fuel pump is ok simply because you hear it running. He suggested you get it to a mechanic asap..

- Well, actually, there is a valve on the fuel rail and it pumps out of their when the engine turns over. Your boyfriend is mistaken. It actually turned out to be the timing belt. Thanks

I am no mechanic but I guess it could be the starter or alternator?

- If the engine cranks over, it would not be the alternator or starter.

- Not sure what "Cranks over" means? It starts up or it sounds like it's about to? My b/f is a mechanic I will ask him tomorrow..
