When the price drops considerably yes.

I will eventually upgrade my computer's DVD R/W device, but I will not buy a machine that only plays the discs to a TV ...
-
If I did I would either get a PS3 or drive for the computer, as Takei answered. Seems silly to get a standalone player (unless it's the PS3).
-
Perhaps once the price drops and it becomes more difficult to get DVD stuff, and I might just go with the PS3, so then I can upgrade that at the same time (I've got PS2). But not for some time yet.

Nope. From what I can tell all the 'woke' crap goes to blue-ray, and few if any of the pre-woke movies/TV shows make it, so I got zero incentive to buy into this stuff.
-
No, I decided some time ago that I am not upgrading to a Blu-ray player because of its expense.
-
dvd players are obsolete blue ray never really took off.,

I do downloads. I also do Netflix, Prime and Showtime. BR is obsolete. Sorry!!
-
I expect I will some day. Currently I have no plans to do so.

In today's technology, more and more people tend to watch movies online, either by buying them or getting free downloads. I prefer to have a collection of DVD's and Blu-ray's. My latest upgrade was buying a 2 in 1 DVD and Blu-ray player. I have a surround sound system in the living room that makes my viewing experience breathtaking, all at the comfort of my home.

No. DVD quality is good enough, and blueray quality is not better enough to justify it.
-
I never use my DVD player.

no plans to buy one
