  • It is based on "model year", not calender year. They both do not run from January to December. If you buy it early, then yes - it is not "sold" in the actual year 2009.
  • Mfg can change the model year whenever they want to. Mostly it is done for marketing, sometimes for C.A.F.E. reasons and sometimes for production schedule reasons. In some instances they start to make a "NEW" vehicle while they are still are making the same model "Old" vehicle so they make the new one the next model year.
  • The year it debutes
