  • The ability to make you believe that they truly are their character and totally disappear into the role. Tom Hanks always fits this description for me.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, and of course the ability to throw your own identity to the wind and exchange it for the one you are given, much like Heath Ledger as the Jester, er Joker.
  • Good acting, timing, rendering of dialog and above all strict discipline in following the instructions of his/her Director.
  • For me its always been their ablity to play many difference roles well. Take Will Ferrel, Every movie he is in he pretty much plays some sort of babbling idiot. Bruce willis usually plays a strung out hyperactive character etc... They all have just one acting style and they are marketed that way. Now take harrison ford. He was able to do action all the way to drama. Because of that round ability to become characters with different backgrounds makes him a great actor in my eyes.
  • Someone who is highly observant of human behaviour and has a deep understanding of human nature and can recreate them both in front of an audience or camera.
  • A great part and a great director make a great actor. That is, actors with great ability can never become great, well known, and acknowledged, without the great parts and great direction.
  • A politician.
