I assume it would get pretty annoying. Thankfully, I'm not on answerbag so much that I notice it.
-
At first, yeah. But I have learned how to ignore such questions. It's the reason why I carefully choose the people on my friends list. I like users who post good questions and answers. For easier access, when such inane, boring, totally duplicate questions appear on the front page :)
-
Guess what, MG? I dumped that person off my "friends" list several days ago..I even asked a question about it. Life is so much better now. I shall continue to dump question hogs in the future..those who are blatantly out for points and nothing else..they don't acknowledge your answers and they never answer any of your questions. Who needs that crap? Friend? Baloney! Happy Sunday! :) I dumped a couple of others as well for the same reason.

I think the people who do such things (if it is indeed their intention to accumulate points) obviously need SOME type of attention in their lives and to me, that's sad. I mean c'mon, get a life...as fun as this place can be sometimes, placing value on "points" and "rankings" is juvenile.
-
Yes I am beginning to agree with you MG. I think Rosie has probably done the right thing. My friends question and answers is totally blocked by two or three people. The questions just are not worth answering either. Finding anything to answer is like a Treasure Hunt. I never see anyone else's questions.
-
Maybe, but nobody else on this site is any better for giving them oodles of points and therefore, leaving the impression that such questions are welcome and wanted. :/
-
YES! I agree with you Hon. It's extremely annoying! Aaarrrghhhhh!
-
It's more than annoying.
-
Incredibly annoying. Asking questions just for points, ranks or titles does nothing but undermine the value and enjoyment of the site. Especially in light of the fact that the supposed "prize" that is being sought is ultimately meaningless.
-
Ha, ha. I just skip them, as I did the KK answer here. I think Demand Media and the sponsors probably love them, because the more questions, the more they can charge for their advertising, and the more "targeted" pages they can place the ads.
-
It is annoying, definitely. What's worse is that when it is an obvious ploy for points or leaderboard status, it is also pathetic and obnoxious. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. THIS IS JUST A WEBSITE. Being on the Leaderboard or having a high rank/level should be a by-product of being a productive and well-received user because of the quality of their Q&A. Going out of your way to get there by substituting quantity for quality seems pretty pointless and kind of sad to me. Say you do ask a billion questions and end up as Most Inquisitive. Are you going to die someday and have "Most Inquisitive Answerbagger" carved on your tombstone? There's more to life than some relatively meaningless status on some website. There are good people here with brilliant and diverse points of view on all sorts of interesting topics and issues. If you're going to spend so much time here, I'd think it would be much more fun to actually get involved with the community spirit rather than spending time and energy on some ultimately pointless quest to be "the best" at any one aspect of the site.

I went to the profile of the person whom I believe you're referring to, and I have to admit that someone with a list of 399 preplanned questions is probably obsessed. :o Fortunately, I haven't encountered enough of their activity here to become annoyed yet.

A seemingly endless stream, one right after the other? Yes - Even if they AREN'T "inane" and "boring". A few (read 2-3 here), no. Remember that inanity and boredom are individual attitudes about them, too. To some, they are, while repetitive, interesting, at least. I've done the "2-3" thing, myself a couple of times. For example I asked about male teachers and black teachers. The whole question was the same, except for those words. I would HOPE that they weren't considered "inane and boring". Just to get on the most inquisitive leaderboard? Yep.
-
Hmmm. I think I know who ya got in mind......

I thought it was just me. It really is annoying and I have only been on this site less than a month. Isn't that like point gaming? of all the questions in the universe and they have to do stuff like that. I am not very good at coming up with questions but I would not do something like that. It's frustrating to me because I am this site 15 hours a day 7 days a week non stop and I am not even close to ever making the top 5 of the week and they do that just to be on the leaderboard. It's like earning money for work not done. and it's not fair for the rest of us. I know it's just points and it's not a big deal..i am not going to sit and cry about it. it's just the principle of the issue

You have no idea how much I agree. When I started, I did ask a lot of stupid questions! With that in mind.... I still agree, even more so! Its a shame
