There are issues with this question: 1) MP4 is a container format and could actually be a whole bunch of different types of files. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP4 Run the file through GSpot to see what it actually is, then get that codec. GSpot: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ 2) VLC is one of the few playback programs with a nearly full set of integrated codecs. For just about any other media player, you will NEED to download codec packs to use with it. Just get one of the K-lite codec packs and be done with it. They contain a ton of codecs and cover just about everything. For playing videos, I use CCCP. It will play just about anything and is a little less large than the K-lite packs. at the freeware section of www.snapfiles.com, in the search box I typed in mp4 player and there are about 5 pages to choose from some are free other shareware some to buy, the first is: Free Zune Video Converter might work, I would look though here and see what is avaible and download a few and see what works best for you, just choose the free ones that way all you out is a little time http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/

The only thing I can recommend is CCCP. I had Ace Mega Codecrappack before, but that was just mega bloat. After getting myself CCCP, all my video problems were gone.

WWW.MOOVIDA.COM It has no need for codecs an arranges all your media files in to it´s simple to use an eye catching data base, while adding additional information to them.
