A truly great mind won't allow itself to go to waste.
-
Yes, and a great waste is definitely something to mind.
-
i dont think a great mind is ever totally wasted, ive known ppl with virtually no education behind them have such inborn intelligence, that it shows through in other ways, and ofcourse the ppl in their lives get to benifit
-
Yes, it's true. But it is hard to waste a truly great mind because they always rise above the current level in their chose applications. It's mostly personal tragedies that waste great minds.
-
I think a mind is only truly great if it's doing something so it will never become a waste. A terrific car isn't a terrific car if it's just sitting on a turntable looking great. It needs to do something. The best took in the world isn't, unless it gets used. Hopefully all minds will not go to waste and get used and become as great as it can:-)
-
The problem is how can you tell if its a great mind or not.
-
You would gladly waste it just to just to save face! Sorry, it's a song. Yes, I believe that very much. Use your brain everyone.
-
Of course, but I agree with the others here, a person possessed of such a gift has little choice but to use it - they certainly wouldn't elect to neglect it, I'm sure. There are sometimes cases where we perceive that someone has potential they're not fulfilling. This might be due to a lack of confidence or circumstance or maybe just apathy. Would they be classed as having 'great minds'? Only if they cultivated them. I've seen kids assessed as 'gifted' who've then grown and developed a drug habit and wasted their gifts. So, sometimes maybe a great mind can be wasted. And yes, it's a tragedy not just a waste.

the mind is not a thing. it is a non-thing.

How many Einstiens have been hit by the metaphorical bus before they've had the opportunity to contribute to humanity? It must happen all the time .
-
Most here have said that a mind is in fact a terrible thing to waste and yet, how many Einsteins have passed by without notice because women were not allowed to voice opinion or participate in any academic happenings.
-
...that's why some people were never given one.
-
You mean becoming Republican?! ;-)
-
waste is a terrible thing to mind? :)
-
It is true that ANY mind is a terrible thing to either waste or put to work on mischief.
-
The NAACP has a slogan that says "a mind is a terrible thing to waste". And I agree. ANY mind wasted is terrible. In a lighter vein, that wonderful "genius" named Dan Quayle once gave a speech to the NAACP in which he tried to refer to that slogan by saying "its really true what you say...its a terrbile thing to lose your mind" So maybe some minds ARE better wasted, Dan Quayles being one of them.
-
yes:)
-
ANY mind is a terrible thing to waste. try anything be anything see what sticks.
-
I thought it was "A great waste is a terrible thing to mind" ~!~ See what I know.
-
Possibly...but it sure is fun!
-
Define "great," and I'll give you my answer.
-
Not always! ;-)
-
"A great mind" is only as great as its content. "terrible" amd "waste" are relative
-
isnt it terrible if anything great was wasted?
-
I dunno.... there have been a few great minds in history that could have done with being wasted. Unless, you interpret "waste" as in not being used to do good.
-
True, but they often are wasted through no fault of the person possessing them. +3
