I was going to FSU in Florida and I had a friend that recommend a bartending book its called Bartendingexposed.com , I was like you I wanted to bartend. I ordered the bartending book on line. I would recommend this book to anyone also! It taught me everything that I needed to learn how to bartend, and now I am bartending and making great money. The course I took was only $37.00 and it was way worth that and more!I personally think this was the best way to become bartender! I hope this info was helpful! Good luck

"Serving at a restaurant is definitely a good start, but there is only so much you can learn about bartending as a server. Ideally, you would like to START as a server and then work your way up to be an entry-level bartender. This can take time. If you want to take the fast-track to getting behind the bar, you should look into becoming a professionally trained bartender by attending an actual bartending school. If you're in Maryland, you may want to check out http://www.marylandbartending.com At bartending school, you'll learn not only how to make pretty much every drink under the sun, but also how the best bartenders operate, establish a base of regular customers, and ultimately make a lot more money. Check out http://www.marylandbartending.com if you're in Maryland, or to find a bartending school near you, check out http://www.pbsa.com"

on the job training is best..i did take the course, tho, just to get better pay, they teach regulations, and responsibilities that are useful to both you and your employer..as far as the "drink recipes" they come and go and vary with region..bartending is a lot of fun, and you can make "big bucks" if you know what you are doing..

if you are a great drunk and know all the drinks by memory, maybe on the jon training is best.

Unless you are skilled at dexterity and learning lots of skills quickly while thinking on your feet, take the class first. Maybe more than once even.

You need experience and the education. Do both.
